My secrets for the perfect coffee at home!

My secrets for the perfect coffee at home!

I'm a coffee lover and I've perfected my coffee-making routine! Here's my step-by-step guide to making the perfect cup. Feel free to leave comments below if you have any questions!

Why I Love Coffee

Coffee is the best! I love the ritual of making it, sipping it, and preparing for the day ahead. However, a lot of coffee on the market is not pure and can introduce mold and toxins into your system. As someone who has dealt with the repercussions of mold toxicity, I knew I needed to ensure my coffee was coming from the best source to nourish my body rather than harm it.

Now, I’ve really mastered the perfect cup of coffee! Read on and I’ll spill all my secrets!

My Coffee-Making Routine

  1. Choosing the Beans: I buy coffee beans exclusively from Purity Coffee. After extensive research on mold and toxin-free coffees, this brand stands out. Plus, you can use my discount code DOCSDAUGHTERS20 to sweeten the deal even more! Click here for a direct link to purchase!
  2. Boiling the Water: I boil water in an electric kettle. This is the best way to quickly boil water for a pour-over, and it has a great spout that makes pouring easy and fun!
  3. Grinding the Beans: While I'm waiting for my water to get hot, I grind 2 tablespoons of coffee beans in my coffee grinder. Having one at home is amazing, but you can always ask the baristas at your local coffee shops to grind it for you. I grind my beans directly into a coffee filter every morning for optimal freshness!
  4. Brewing the Coffee: Once the filter is full of coffee grounds, I put it into my pour-over and pour about 8 ounces of boiling water over it.
  5. Steaming the Milk: I steam 8 ounces of oat milk with a the nespresso milk frother. I've had this for 6 years and it still makes perfectly frothy steamed milk every time! I love oat milk because it adds a creamy, earthy, and slightly sweet flavor to my coffee. Click here for a link to my favorite oat milk!
  6. Choosing the Mug: You can't forget the perfect mug! It makes coffee time even more special. I use a mug that's the perfect size (~16oz) and so cute and cozy.

I hope this coffee routine works as well for you as it does for me. It may seem long at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's SO quick—and even a little fun to wake up with in the morning. I usually have the process running while I'm washing my face and brushing my teeth, so when I'm done, it's ready to go. It's the perfect start to the morning while maintaining a low-tox diet that fuels me through all my days!

Why I Drink Decaf

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you know that I drink decaf coffee. I used to drink 1-2 cups of regular coffee daily, but I switched to decaf to prep for a water fast. The transition wasn't easy, with major detox headaches, but I discovered a newfound freedom. Now, I have sustained energy without the mid-day caffeine slump. Decaf keeps all the healthy antioxidants of regular coffee without the sleep issues, anxiety, and heart concerns caused by caffeine. It's important to choose Swiss water decaf for a chemical-free, flavorful experience.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a cup of regular coffee if it works for you. The process remains the same!

Enjoy your perfect cup of coffee! Don't forget to leave any questions or comments below.

XOXO,

Cara

I really need to go decaf, even though I use just a small amount of coffee, but decaf tastes odd..
